We’re doing things differently this year!

Conference Reception

Sunday, 6:35 pm – 8:00 pm

Exclusive Access to the Air & Space Museum

Monday, 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm

There are many outstanding places to hold events in Washington, DC, but regrettably, DFD has outgrown them all as a reception venue serving food and beverages. Fortunately, we found a way to offer both a reception (Sunday) and access to one of the most iconic venues in Washington DC – the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum (Monday).

SUNDAY evening’s reception will be held on two levels of the Convention Center. The event will offer a variety of light hors d’oeuvres and beverages (including beer and wine) instead of a full meal, allowing participants time to enjoy dinnerwith colleagues and friends. Undergraduate may purchase tickets for the reception. It is included in the registration fee for all other registrants.

For MONDAY evening we have arranged for DFD to have exclusive access to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum (NASM). DFD registrants and their guests can visit the eight new galleries that have been completed since the monumental multi-year renovation began in 2018. Although this is not the entire Museum, these galleries feature over 1400 new items on display. This event is included in the registration fee for all registrants and up to four of their guests.

Conference Reception Location

In addition to the galleries, guests will have access to the Museum store and the Planetarium.

Please note:

  • There is no charge for this event for you or your guests;
  • You you will be asked to provide the number of guests when you register; and,
  • The Museum may open its café offering snacks and drinks to purchase.

For both these evenings, we encourage you to make a dinner reservation at one of the city’s excellent restaurants well in advance to accommodate your needs.
